Blogging to glory??

There was a time when a blog meant not much too many people. But time flies fast. Has it become more of a statement today?
I was once told by a person who works for a famous magazine (online version) that a blog is space on net where you can put ur thoughts in general. Its your personal space in the cyber world. No one to point fingers on what u say. Your point of view. Your thoughts.

(Plus it could be used as a source of information for a journalist.[:P])

But wait see for past few months something is happening…blogs are making news…

Celebrities ,politician..big wigs..are increasingly turning to it to put ther opinion

Amitabh has one…Aamir already has one and now NC leader Omer Abdullah is also in the fray.

But is it being used properly by them?is it really to put ther opinion?or are these replies to someone..?

So has it become a way of telling the world what you want them to know by playing safe?

In a way you have a personal opinion but you also have an answer to your critics.

Clarifying thing….asking someone not to interfere much or just telling the world that u have a dog by some name….

Boxing critics in your own “personal manner”?

Though there are opinions but also agendas

I see these instances that you are refering to, as more of settling personal scores rather than making the real sense of what blog was supposed to be meant ! May be in the coming days, we will witness more mud swindling!!

Blogs are meant for sharing opinions freely. But many a time this border is crossed and it has both positive and negative effects.Given that blogging is web logging rather writing out a personal dairy, it seems people can express themselves in any tone they want to though I personally feel that rather than using it for mud slinging it should be used for constructive purposes.

Absolutely Leena! Blogs are not meant for personal vendetta. The primary purpose of web logs is to disseminate information, promote healthy discussion, and share one’s knowledge. The stars are setting a bad example, and creating misconceptions about the fundamental purpose of this amazing web tool.

@ Alpheus

Thanks for acknowledging. You know people should understand the larger purpose and potential of this tool that connects the world....and that is constructive exchange of opinions and many times an amazing piece of information can really make a big difference.
But then I think there are blogs that are maintained for different purposes. Maybe there are some fun blogs, entertainment blogs, personal blogs where people can express themselves the way they want to..maybe the code of conduct differs for different blogs. However, whatever the code of conduct best efforts should be put to prevent negativities.

These movie stars are misusing the platform of blogging which is meant for ventilating one’s own feelings, reactions and emotions without rancor for anyone.

there was a time when people used to write their thoughts in diaries, which never saw the light of the day. then came blogs, which opened up a whole new avenue for people to tell the world, loud and clear, what they think. i am not surprised that blogging has, in some instances, been reduced to vent anger and hatred and for defamation. it’s in the nature of man to search out loopholes in every new invention and put it to negative use. take for instances the number of crimes committd with the help of technology, which is otherwise a boon to civilization.
